Pharma West Africa Launches LEADERS CLUB: A New Initiative to Propel Nigeria’s Pharmaceutical Industry

On June 12th, 2024, at the Sheraton Hotel in Ikeja, Lagos, Pharma West Africa officially launched its prestigious LEADERS CLUB, a new initiative aimed at driving progress within Nigeria's pharmaceutical sector. The event was graced by His Excellency, Senator Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, Sardaunan Kano, and Former Governor of Kano State, who served as the Special Guest of Honour.

 

The Pharma West Africa Leaders Club is an exclusive gathering of 30 influential leaders from across the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry, united by a shared vision to achieve several critical objectives:

 

1. Fostering Industry Collaboration: The club will serve as a platform for industry leaders to review and discuss the outcomes of the PWA conference, assess the implementation of previous recommendations, and determine the necessary steps to advance these initiatives.

 

2. Enhancing Global Connectivity: Members will strategize on how the Pharma West Africa exhibition and conference can continue to be the premier annual platform that connects Nigeria’s pharmaceutical industry with global markets, exploring potential benefits for the sector.

 

3. Hosting Expert-Led Networking Events: The Leaders Club will organize quarterly meetings featuring expert speakers who will provide valuable insights on pressing issues facing Nigeria's pharmaceutical industry.

 

4. Advocating for Pharma West Africa’s Growth: As a united voice, the club will work to promote Pharma West Africa, aiming to elevate it to a globally recognized event within the pharmaceutical industry.

 

5. Ensuring Fair Representation: The club will ensure that all stakeholders across the Nigerian pharmaceutical industry are represented, fostering a collective community that prioritizes the sector’s best interests.

 

6. Shaping Future Conferences: Members will identify key topics that should be addressed in future editions of the Pharma West Africa conference, ensuring relevance and impact.

 

7. Expanding Participation: The Leaders Club will actively encourage members to promote and invite their professional networks to attend Pharma West Africa exhibitions and conferences.

 

8. Highlighting Critical Product Areas: The club will identify and ensure that product areas crucial to the growth and development of West Africa’s pharmaceutical industry are adequately represented at the PWA exhibition.

 

9. Welcoming International Insights: International guest speakers will be invited to share insights from other nations’ pharmaceutical industries, fostering a global perspective.

 

10. Promoting Inter-State Business: The club will also focus on enhancing pharmaceutical business collaboration across ECOWAS countries.

 

Pharm Ahmed I. Yakasai, mni, FPSN, FNAPharm, FCPharm, FNIM (Kachallan Kano), Chairman of the Pharma West Africa Conference and Leaders Club, and former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, emphasized the importance of this initiative in accelerating the growth of Nigeria's pharmaceutical industry.
