Dr. Olamide Okulaja's journey through the labyrinth of the healthcare sector has been nothing short of visionary and dynamic. His expertise traverses a plethora of domains, including Healthcare Management, Healthcare Financing, Hospital Management Information Systems, Healthcare Quality Assurance, Human Resources Management, and Business Development. At the apex of his academic accomplishments lies a diploma in Health Economics at the London School of Economics. He also holds an MBA in International Healthcare Management, which he earned from the prestigious University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Not to be overshadowed, his
foundation is rooted in an MBBS degree from the esteemed College of Medicine at the University of Lagos.
In a previous chapter of his illustrious career, Olamide graced the position of Director of Advocacy and Program Development at the PharmAccess Foundation in Nigeria. Before that, he orchestrated the engagement of the World Bank Group in the provinces of Ogun and Lagos as a Healthcare Financing Specialist. In this role, he played a pivotal role in the conceptualization and execution of the Kwara Community-Based Insurance Scheme, imparting his insights into policy and regulatory paradigms. His involvement extended to fortifying Nigeria's strategic thrust towards Universal Healthcare Coverage.
A luminous feather in his cap was his tenure as the Interim Partnership Lead for the Nigerian Consortium of the African Health Markets for Equity. This audacious $60 million Pan-African endeavour, generously funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Department for International Development in the UK, was dedicated to dismantling barriers inhibiting private sector engagement in rendering superior healthcare to marginalized populations. Olamide's leadership also radiated in his stewardship as the Chair of the AHME/World Economic Forum/Ogun State Project Management Unit. This role encompassed overseeing a cluster of 14 visionary initiatives within the Araya Scheme in Ogun State, spearheading endeavours that pushed the boundaries of healthcare accessibility.
His commitment and expertise were further showcased as he contributed to various Technical Working Groups. His fingerprints are evident in the fabric of the Lagos State Core Team tasked with executing the Lagos State Health Insurance Scheme. He also played an instrumental part in the Lagos State Technical Working Group, steering the ship of Private Public Partnerships and the intricate realm of ICT implementation for Health. In his present epoch, Olamide is vested as the Technical Assistant to the Honorable Commissioner for Health and Health Economist at the Lagos State Ministry of Health. His responsibilities encompass a broad spectrum, including spearheading the Medical Diagnostics and Services Provision (MDSP) Scheme. This innovative initiative is a conduit for catalysing private investments into the realm of public health services.
In a symphony of accomplishments, Olamide conducts the harmonious composition of developing a technical framework. This framework nurtures access to capital for Private Health SMEs in the expansive landscapes of Lagos and Delta State. In addition, he is a cornerstone of the core team that is meticulously sculpting an avant-garde e-health strategy and policy for Lagos State, poised to redefine the healthcare landscape.
